On Sunday (October 12), during chol hamoed Succot, our HAT Middle School Alumni gathered together for their second event of the academic year. Again, there was a very good attendance and much festivity throughout the program. Social time was set aside before and after the activity. The theme of this event was simcha – happiness – which is connected to Succot – also called z’man simchatenu, the season of our happiness. The students played some games and had to define what happiness is and what makes them happy both as individuals and members of the community. The alumni had fun creating their happy people presentation and saw different ways simcha is associated with Succot, as a Jewish harvest and pilgrimage festival. We, of course, ate and had more fun social time in the Succah with our HAT High School Alumni, who were also having an event.
