Heritage Credit Union was established in Madison, WI in 1934 to serve the employees of Oscar Mayer & Company. The non-profit, member-owned financial institution has branches in Madison, Milwaukee, Sauk City, Prairie du Sac, Phillips, Prentice, Hawkins, Chetek and Ladysmith, Wisconsin, and in Rockford and Galesburg, Illinois. Its portfolio of financial services includes checking, savings, money market accounts, 1st mortgage loans, retirement accounts, auto loans, home equity loans, credit cards and 24-hour lending. Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives owned by the people who save and borrow. The money members deposit with the credit union provides the resources to lend to other members. Because we are a not-for-profit organization we offer our members higher returns on investments, lower rates on loans and fewer service fees. "People helping people" is the foundation of credit unions. We put people before profits. Because of our unique philosophy, we are in a better position to keep our rates favorable and affordable. Every member has an equal vote in electing a volunteer board of directors who run the credit union. Heritage Credit Union's Board of Directors volunteers their time to set policies that are in the best interest of the members.
