Hermit Park Clinic and Skin Cancer Care provides high quality traditional family general practice, as well as Townsville's premier skin cancer surveillance, diagnostic and treatment service. We also provide services across a range of special areas such as Sleep Disorders, Sports Medicine, Diabetes, Vasectomy and Family Planning. The Directors (Greg Canning and Peter Carson) promote a private model of primary care, acknowledging that good general practice requires time and resources. We have a "blended" billing policy with a mix of private, discount, pensioner and bulk billing fees available to serve the interest of fairness and accessibility. We believe that the competent, able and well-informed patient can be motivated to accept personal responsibility for their healthcare, and that extra attention and assistance should be offered to those who cannot. Our philosophy of good general practice involves consideration of the individual, the family and the range of physical, emotional, spiritual, social and cultural factors that bear on our patients' care. This care encompasses both the treatment and prevention of disease as well as the promotion of good health, physical and emotional well-being.
