"Espresso Yourself"
Often imitated, but never duplicated, Higher Ground Coffee House (formerly Zen & Now) got it's start in 1999 as the only Coffee House on the Westside of Cincinnati. Now twelve years later, we're just the best, offering great coffee & smoothie drinks & a relaxing, stress free atmosphere. Don't worry smokers, for you we have an extensive front patio to lounge on. In addition to offering a colorful selection of drinks, we also offer wall space to local/regional artists, rotated monthlyish (want your art on our walls? Then call us!) as well as local/regional musicians on Friday and Saturday nights (don't mind playing for coffee/tips? then call us!). In its 13 years of life, Higher Ground has had 3 sets of owners: Dave Bechtol, Chris, Vicki and Gary Wolfzorn and now...(drum-roll please) the man of the hour...JEFF BAKER! After growing tired of the corporate grind, Jeff sought out a new adventure that will add years on to his life. This is when he found Zen (Did I just blow your mind, or what?). More is coming to this area shortly! IN THE COMMUNITY: Higher Ground has always supported charitable causes within the Bridgetown community and beyond. If you have a cause you think Zen should get behind, let us know! Below is a list of the events Zen is taking part of: -PROJECT IN THEATER Higher Ground is an official DVD drop off center for this cause. All of your new/used DVDs will go to our men and women overseas who need some entertainment on those long nights of protecting our freedom. This event will go until May 31st, so give what you can. *In memory of SSgt. Matt Maupen. -COFFEE FOR KALLI: June 4,2011 at 6pm to 10pm Kalli is a local sweetheart that was at the wrong place at the wrong time. She was attacked by an Akita (breed of dog) while playing at a family friends house. She underwent extensive reconstructive surgery and has quite a long road ahead to recovery. There will be gift basket raffles, live music and the chance to help a family out. Please give what you can! IN THE PRESS: Zen has been making headlines since the shop opened back in 1999.
