Holy Basil Laos Thai Restaurant
Stunning Décor / Attentive Service / Delicious Food Since opening in 2009 Holy Basil has consistently delivered some of the tastiest Asian food in Sydney and become renowned for their unique fusion of Thai with the simple, saltier and earthier spicing of its neighbour Laos. Now they have opened a branch in the heart of Sydney at the Shark Hotel. The sleek and modern fit out has a lustrous sheen. Featuring a mix of dark and blonde timbers, gilded gold mirrors, bronze Buddhist art and statues and a wall of mortar and pestles. Splashes of colour are provided by the pink banquettes, chandeliers, and abundant vases of orange and pink orchids. Combined with an open stainless steel kitchen the effect is both vibrant and inviting. A family run enterprise led by Chef Tony Inthavong, whose resume includes Luke Mangan’s Moorish. Mum is responsible for many of the secret sauces and recipes and Tony’s siblings are front of house. The wide-ranging menu is appealing and affordable with that perfect balance of sweet, sour, salty & spice. Choose from soups, grills, salads, curries, stir fries, rice and noodle dishes and dessert. Signature dishes include Laos sausages, whole deep fried snapper, papaya salad and a sublime and delicious famous fried ice-cream which is our. All dishes can be tailored to your spice preference.
