Home-Start is a national family support charity that helps parents to build better lives for their children. Volunteers at local Home-Starts support over 32,000 families every year. The first Home-Start was established in Leicester in 1973 by Margaret Harrison CBE. The Home-Start network supports families across the UK and in British Forces bases in Germany and Cyprus. Local Home-Starts are supported in their work by Home-Start UK. Home-Start believes that children need a happy and secure childhood and that parents play the key role in giving their children a good start in life and helping them to achieve their full potential.
