Hope For Holly is a Registered Charity (Number 1154158)
Holly was diagnosed a week before her 4th birthday, she is normally a happy little girl with enormous amounts of energy. Holly lives with her parents and baby sister in Marton, Middlesbrough. Holly had been poorly before and during our holiday to Portugal, she had been sick, was pale and had no energy. Her skin was bruising easily and she complained of tummy ache. On our return we went out to lunch with family and following the tiny amount of she ate, Holly cried complaining of tummy ache and fell asleep in the car on the way home. We were extremely worried so used the NHS call back service when we got home. We were sent to a health centre and the doctor there felt Holly’s tummy and noticed that she was pale, he sent us to James Cook University Hospital Paediatrics day assessment unit. They decided to carry out a blood test, Holly was very scared but got through it without making a sound. A short while later the doctor came back and give us the news no parent ever wants to hear, Holly almost definitely had Leukaemia and would be transferred to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) first thing the next morning. The worst day in the history of our lives, it instantly felt like someone had ripped out our insides, we wished it were us. Holly was very poorly in the first 4 weeks of treatment complaining of stomach pains on a regular basis, she had many trips back to the RVI but they couldn’t find out why her tummy was hurting. We knew something was not right! On Friday 29th June the doctors decided to carry out a scan of her stomach which showed lots of free air suggesting a perforated bowel, we knew this could make her very very poorly and the doctors need to operate straight away, doctors and nurses were rushing around trying to get fluids into Holly, she was taken to theatre at 10:30pm. This was the hardest day of all as not only was she suffering from Leukaemia but a possible perforated bowel. It was discovered once under anaesthetic that her appendix had burst. After a 5 hour operation Holly spent the night in Intensive Care (ICU) During her treatment Holly will be a very poorly young girl as side effects of the chemotherapy can and regulary do include: nausea/vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, alopecia, weight loss and weight gain, extreme fatigue, lethargy, dizziness and mucositis (extremely painful mouth and throat ulcers) Further more Holly will be highly susceptible to infection, which could prove to be life threatening, as her immune system will be suppressed due to the chemotherapy she will receive, any rise or fall in temperature will result in urgent medical advice or hospital admission where she could require 3-10 days of treatment with intravenous antibiotics. Holly will undergo treatment for Leukaemia for the next 2 years and even after this will require regular monitoring for the rest of her life. The charity Hope for Holly set up in Holly's name with the following key aims; 1) Provide family bags with essential items for hospital stays. 2) Sponsor a room at Crawford House, Newcastle RVI that provides families with living facilities whilst their child is in hospital. 3) July 2014 we were very proud to open the doors of the ‘Hollyday’ caravan which is situated at the 5*resort of Ribby Hall, Blackpool. We have already received fantastic feedback from the families who have visited, who are extremely grateful for a free holiday to unwind, relax and enjoy family time during or following the stressful treatment phases. Please help and get this Christmas Song to No1 for Bradley Lowery, its available on pre order now on iTunes and is officially released on Friday 16th December.
Bradley Lowery's dad posted this yesterday, there are no words. Please those who attend this weekends Sunderland and Newcastle games sing his name on 5 minutes for his age. if anyone can spare just one Christmas Card this year, please, please send it to this lad. Bradley Lowery has just 2 months to live after struggling for some time battling against cancer. His last wish is to receive thousands and thousands of Christmas cards. His address is .... Bradley Lowery 5 Attlee Avenue Blackhall Rocks Hartlepool TS27 4BY Please share and spread the word lets make his dreams come true. So as most of you know Bradley's had scans the last few days. To cut a long story short I'm devastated to let use know that his cancer has continued to grow. We have had a meeting with Bradley's consultant and he has giving us three options but all three options only give us time with Bradley. First option is to take him home and stop all treatment this would only give us 2 month. Bradley's consultant said if it was him he would do this. Second option is to give Bradley some oral chemo which is weak on the bloods. This is a palliative care option and he doesn't think it will do anything but he said we could try. Third option is that he is willing to give a antibody and chemo combination that I was looking to go to America for if we can fund the drugs which is obviously not a problem. However he believes if we do that we could lose Bradley through treatment and we will be in hospital for at least two months. He believes regardless of the three options we have they all have the same outcome and that is Bradley will lose his fight. I honestly have no words to how heart broken I am right now. I really don't know how I'm going to make a decision either to take my baby home and have a couple of months with him or put him through more gruelling treatment that could leave him fighting for his life and to have the same outcome. 💔💔💔 Bradley and his daddy having cuddles today ❤️❤️❤️
Cant go to school so I will enjoy a hot chocolate with cream instead

For those new to our page... Hope for Holly is a small and local charity aiming to raise funds to provide children with cancer and their families, with opportunities to make magical memories during or after the horrific treatments that they have had to endure in their personal fight... Named after our daughter Holly, who has now been in remission from Leukaemia for 2 years; the charity is not a personal fund, nor has Holly or our family been a beneficiary in anyway. This is our way of giving back and trying to support others through their battle. We are extremely proud of our achievements and over the coming weeks will post (not all at once, I promise) some of the wonderful and magical memories that we have helped to create. Thank you to everyone who has and continue to support our charity 💕💕💕💕
Ready steady bake! All welcome 😃
