Hopskeller (n.) /häp-skĕl′ər/: the offbeat existence of a Waterloo, Illinois gathering place designed for the creation & consumption of great beer. Inspired by deep reveries of the Pacific Northwest & extensive time spent camping, hiking, & roadtripping through the great outdoors with close friends, Hopskeller is the taste of your memories. Hopskeller is a brewery influenced by the beers of Northern England and the Pacific Northwest, currently focused on providing their American Amber Ale, Northern English Brown Ale, American IPA, & Blonde Ale. Brewed in a pre-Civil War home remodeled with reclaimed materials, it is more than a brewery. It is a gathering place for discussion, laughter, & the heart-warming joy of enjoying a beer with friends. As a site where experiences are born, it is rooted in the collective memories of generation after generation. Hopskeller belongs to everyone and no one at the same time. Because everyone has a story, we start ours with Matt Schweizer & a homebrew showing in Waterloo, Illinois. Noticing his popularity, several local civil & business leaders requested that Matt’s homebrews become the basis of Waterloo’s brewery. Between studying abroad in Northern England and living in the Pacific Northwest, Matt brings these influences into every beer he produces.

How To Get to Hopskeller Brewing Company

From Saint Louis: take Interstate 255-E across the Jefferson Barracks Bridge and make the first right on to Illinois State Highway Route 3. Take Route 3 south until you get to Market Street in Waterloo (approx. 20 minutes from the Jefferson Barracks Bridge) and make a left on Market. Follow Market Street into town and make a right on 3rd Street. We're the large, 2-story stone building on your left, right across from the County Courthouse! From south of Waterloo: Follow Route 3 north towards Waterloo. Make a right on Market Street and follow north into town. Make a left on 3rd Street and you'll see us on the left, directly across from the County Courthouse!
