If there werent already enough reasons to come along to Hot Bed Press this weekend, we've just added a new demonstration which will take place at 1230pm. Book Artist in residence, Kim Bevan will be talking about her work and showing examples of Book Arts and the body of work that she has produced during her residency.
The Complete Book Artist 2015 With both the daytime and evening Complete Printmaker courses for 2015 now being fully booked we still have places available for The Complete Book Artist. The feedback on the workshop has been really great and we’re looking forward to running the course again on Tuesday evenings throughout 2015. So why not start the new year by treating yourself to a year long course at Hot Bed Press. Over the 30 weeks you will develop knowledge of materials and techniques and will learn how to make a variety of book structures. These range from simple yet fascinating structures to more challenging multi-section hard-bound books. You will also learn how to make a beautiful clam-shell portfolio box to house some of the great books you have made on the course. As well as equipping you with technical knowledge, the course will challenge you to explore narrative, sequencing, text & image, the relationship between form and content and how you can use the book form to interrogate and push your own practice and ideas. The course will also bring in a number of guest tutors to give hands-on introductions to various non-digital printing methods, including risograph, letterpress, silk-screen and relief printing to help you develop and realise the ideas that connect the form and content of your books. The course will be tutored on Tuesday evenings between 6.00pm and 9.00pm with an additional 4 hours access to the workshop throughout the week. Call the workshop on 0161 743 3111 to book your places. Numbers are limited so call the workshop and dont miss out!
