"HOUSE OF PEARL is a venue that takes the revered Nonya crossover cuisine, combining Chinese, Malay and Indian influences, to a much larger presence… Get this right and I fancy any nonya aficionado will become a regular. Count me in. The Pearl’s is one of the best in town, delivering a great-value meal with a huge range of textures and flavours… In the evening, when the full menu comes into play, it’s worth a trip upstairs, looking down over the masses to see what’s caught the attention of the knowledgeable. The room is imbued with the smells of curry leaf and belachan, that unique shrimp paste that separates the gastronomically fit from the pretenders… The aromas promise an intoxicating experience… Surrounded by scores of tables, palate humming with a reasonable and not stupidly nuclear spice, nostrils tuned to that shrimp and sambal aroma, HOUSE OF PEARL delivers a rich, sensory experience.
