Mission to Belize 2014 Ps 37: 5; Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him to help you do it, and he will. [TLB] One of the meanings of commit or commitment is {a declaration that one will or will not do something} [AHD] Staying the course denotes we will finish our God given assignment. Because we are living in difficult times [2 Tim 3:1] we must be aware of the subtle deceitful devices the enemy has set desiring to ensnare us. One of the devices the enemy uses is distraction, which comes in various forms along the way of life to hinder or stop us from finishing our course. I.e. preoccupation with families, persecution, false guilt, shame, fear of the unknown, lack of confidence and boldness, Church activities, amusement, leisure activities, recreation, undue stress, being self-centered, enchantment, work, hobbies, adult toys, a feeling of rejection, and such like. Therefore, we must be able to discern when such intervention is of God and when the enemy is attempting to get us off course. Jesus had many such opportunities, from the religious rulers, the people of his own hometown, and so many others. However, He knew the voice of his Father, and the voice of the enemy. One such example of the Father intervening, is found in Mark 5: 22- 43. Jesus was on his way by request, to the home of one the rulers of the synagogue to minister healing to his little daughter who was at the point of death. While on his way a woman who had an issue of blood for twelve years interrupted him by declaring, if I may touched his garment “I shall be made whole”. Jesus knowing that virtue had gone out of him, took the time to inquire, and ministered to her. Then came one running from the home of the ruler and said to him, do not bother the Master no more your daughter is dead, upon hearing these words, Jesus said to the ruler, “be not afraid, only believe!” what was the ruler (Jairus) to believe? The same word he declared in, v. 23 And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live. [KJV]. Another example is be found in John 4:1-29,-43 Jesus was interrupted for two days by a Samaritan woman at Jacobs well, on his way to Galilee. Moreover, through that interruption many people in that city believed on him. Staying the course is learning to trust God, ask him to help you, do what He tells you to do, strengthen your relationship with Him by obeying and guarding your heart with all diligence, and finish your course satisfied with Joy. Prov. 4:27, 16:3 Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. [NIV] 2 Tim 4:7, 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. (through Christ) NIV The reward in this life is satisfaction knowing that through Christ you have touched, assisting in transforming, and empowering many lives for the glory of God, and in the life to come you will hear “well done thou good and faithful servant” We Won, Win, Even Now Peace!
