Dear Students and Families, As we approach the time when cast lists come out for our first productions I want to encourage all students who auditioned to seek out Mr. Paris or me (in class, at lunch, between classes or by email) and ask for feedback on their auditions. Bring paper and a writing utensil so that you can write the feedback down. I suggest this for students who did not attain the role they were hoping for as well as those who did. It is important to learn from successes as well as from disappointments. They are both chances to learn and to better ourselves. While I do not mind speaking with a parent who has a question about their student’s audition, I prefer to speak directly to the student. Learning how to approach a director on their own, receive honest feedback and go through the process of accepting the feedback then taking steps to either improve or move on is an essential part of a theatre major’s growth process. Thank you to everyone who took the risk and came out to audition. It is not an easy thing to do. I believe that this is part of what makes us as “theatre people” so strong, well-rounded and special. “There is no failure, only feedback.” – Robert Allen “Reach for the moon, even if you miss you will be among the stars.” – Lester Brown
