at 900 S 5th St, Minneapolis , 55415

The Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome (commonly called the Metrodome) was a domed sports stadium located in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. Opened in 1982, it replaced Metropolitan Stadium, which was on the current site of the Mall of America in Bloomington, and Memorial Stadium on the University of Minnesota campus. From 1982 to 2013, the Metrodome was the home of the National Football League's (NFL) Minnesota Vikings, Major League Baseball's (MLB) Minnesota Twins from 1982 to 2009, the National Basketball Association's (NBA) Minnesota Timberwolves in their 1989-1990 inaugural season and the Golden Gophers football and baseball teams. It was also the home of the Minnesota Strikers of the North American Soccer League in 1984. On January 18, 2014, the Metrodome roof was deflated, signaling the beginning of demolition work. The Vikings will play at the University of Minnesota TCF Bank Stadium until the 2016 NFL season when U.S. Bank Stadium is planned to open.
