The Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI) brings together more than 1,400 researchers from Hunter New England Local Health District, the University of Newcastle and Calvary Mater Newcastle who are striving to prevent, cure and treat a diverse range of serious illnesses by translating research findings made in the lab into real health treatments and preventative strategies for the community. Through dynamic translational research, Hunter researchers are investigating diseases and illnesses that affect every family - cancer, heart disease, stroke, multiple sclerosis, depression, premature birth, asthma and more.
