HURT (Have Your Tomorrows) is a voluntary organisation supporting individuals and their family who have been impacted negatively by drug / alcohol problems. HURT treatment centre offers a confidential; non-judgmental approach to those affected by dependency and addiction. HURT was founded by our current Coordinator Sadie O’Reilly who tragically lost her only son Tony through a heroin drug addiction in 1999. The heartache and loss experienced by Sadie and her family throughout this time served to strengthen Sadie’s resolve in her belief that no other mother or family should have to suffer the death of a loved one through drug addiction. Sadie’s belief fuelled by her commitment, determination and passion was the driving force behind the conception of HURT which Sadie dedicates to the memory of Tony. Initially financing the HURT project herself, Sadie provided a confidential listening ear service, family support and a drop-in-centre for anyone seeking advice and assistance in relation to drugs and alcohol. Securing minor funding Sadie and two volunteers moved into HURT’s current premises at 14 Clarendon Street, in the heart of Derry City. HURT staff and volunteers provide a holistic care package to individuals seeking assistance in relation to their own or a loved one’s addiction issue. Our services include Auricular acupuncture, complimentary therapies – to include reflexology and massage, clients are then offered ten weeks of counselling. We work on the ground with our communities regardless of race, sex, gender, status political or religious beliefs. HURT have in place and adhere to equal opportunities, child protection and confidentiality policies. HURT is an accredited education training centre and offer O.C.N. (Open College Network) and C.P.C.A.B (Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body) training programs such as Drug and Alcohol awareness, Counselling, listening Skills and basic IT. We deliver preventative educational programmes within local schools youth clubs and community based initiatives.
