Description

Food is the most dynamic method of communication we have, and the potential of redefining our relationship with it is limitless. Art for Food is an interactive storefront centered on promoting powerful and lasting change through food education, food arts, and culinary based scientific research. We offer a creative community space functioning as both a teaching lab and a retail platform for food-related fine arts, design, performances, classes, guest speakers, and events. Our intention is to examine modern food culture by presenting a series of sensory and inter-disciplinary experiences, and to explore the relationships between food and technology, education, environmental sustainability, biology, art and design, socio-political advocacy, and cultural history. During open hours we offer a range of retail items relating to food, including food photography, custom made tables, rare wood kitchen boards, custom enameled antique silverware pieces and food based jewelry. The space is meant for engaging the community through food, so you can also simply come and sit on a comfy couch to read through our many cookbooks and ask us questions about food and cooking. We look forward to seeing you.

Paint Nite Seattle
Seattle , WA null United States

Paint Nite shakes up friends’ night out with the perfect pour of artistic and alcoholic spirits. At local hot spot bars in more than 80 cities worldwide, a master artist walks through the steps to create a "16x20” acrylic masterpiece in about two hours. Paint Nite provides all painting supplies including canvas, easel, paints, brushes, and an apron to help protect clothing. But hands, arms, and face are fair game! No art experience needed—just visit PaintNite.com to choose from a variety of paintings and locations and Drink Creatively! Voted 2013 “Best Friend Date” by New York magazine and reviewed in papers nationwide including The Chicago Tribune, The Daily Beast, San Francisco Chronicle, and The Wall Street Journal. See what our friends are saying about us on Yelp and post a review of your great Paint Nite! “LOVE Paint Nite. Have done it 3 times and it never gets boring.” — Damary G., Boston “My friend and I had such a great time letting our creative juices flow on a random Tuesday night. We also had time to snack on food and drink from the restaurant and catch up on some girl talk. Overall, the event was well organized and tons of fun.” — Jess D., Burlingame, CA “The artists…are very knowledgeable about painting techniques, color mixing and how to use the brushes, but that is not the focus of Paint Nite. Paint Nite[‘s goal] is to have FUN, be social, interact and learn the basics of painting to create a fun piece of art for yourself.” — Ashley A., Seattle “The classes are not formal, instructional classes, rather they encourage creativity. I chose this as my reintroduction to art because I wanted a low stress, low cost way to start again.” — Lark F., Rancho Cucamonga, CA Join Us! We are always looking for talented teammates to join our social, artistic movement. Visit our career page (PaintNite.com/careers) to check out our openings and paint us a picture of how well you’d fit in. Our growing list of venues is vital to our creative drinking, too, so if you’re a bar or restaurant manager with (non-carpeted) space available to host 30 eager painters, visit PaintNite.com to learn more about hosting events.
