Description

Mission Statement IDAAC/FWC is to enhance the Democratic Party's inclusion of African Americans in decision making, elections, public office appointments and party positions. To promote the active participation of African Americans in the local, state and national levels of the democratic process. To support the right of the African American Community to control its own institutions as it relates to political empowerment, international policy, communications, rural development, environmental protections and community self-determination. WHAT IS A CAUCUS? A caucus is a political committee or group, in charge of shaping policy. WHY IS THERE A NEED FOR AN AFRICAN AMERICAN CAUCUS? There is a need for the African American Caucus so as to help African Americans begin to shape the political policies that affect them. To this end the African American Caucus is not a social organization. It is a political organization. It is to speak truth to power without apology, especially if the policies of the powers that be, adversely affect the African American community. Category: Political Activism History IDAAC/FWC The Indiana Democrat African American Caucus is charged with the creation and implementation of political and educational programs that empower African Americans to be primary stakeholders in the Democratic Party. The organization, founded in 1972, promotes active participation of African Americans in local, state, and national levels of the Democratic process, supporting the rights of the African Americans to play an integral role in governmental and political leadership. Mr. Charles Redd retired as chairman of the Indiana Democratic African-American Caucus and has been recognized as an outstanding civil rights leader by the Democratic Party through the creation of the Charles B. Redd Honorary Fair Share Declaration, a list of goals for minority inclusion. ________________________________________
