Information Children is a non-profit organization and a registered charity. We provide information, support and referrals to parents and others on matters related to the care and well-being of children and families. Parenting is hard work! Information Children provides a Parent Support Telephone Line and an E-Support. What is the Parent Support Line/E-Support? This is a free service to parents and other caregivers facing a range of family life or parenting challenges. This nonjudgmental and confidential service provides a listening ear, support and guidance to parents who may be upset or worried about a family issue, or just need someone to talk to. Parents themselves, Information Children staff truly understand the joys, trials and tribulations of parenting and definitely know that parenting is hard work. How can it help me? The Parent Support Line/E-Support has knowledgeable staff who will try to help you with suggestions for ways of dealing with your parenting issue or concern. Staff will also provide a listening ear if that is all you need. What can I call or e-mail about? Information Children welcomes calls or emails from parents and others about children - babies to teens. With the exception of medical questions, we will respond to almost any question related to parenting and family life. If we cannot help you, we will find someone who can. Following are examples of why you might contact us. If your particular concern isn't listed, please know that this list is only a snap shot of the many reasons why parents call: child development - what is normal and what isn't, infant sleep, bedtime battles, nightmares and night terrors, tantrums, toilet/potty training, picky eating, biting, sharing, separation anxiety, generalized anxiety, childhood fears, bullying, school difficulties, learning disabilities, friendship problems, special needs, post partum adjustment, new baby issues, sibling rivalry, parent anger and emotions, coping with separation and divorce, feeling alone and frustrated, conflicting parenting styles, community resources and many, many more.
We strive to empower parents and strengthen families by providing information, guidance and support to parents and others seeking assistance with parenting and family-life challenges. We do so without prejudice, and with the utmost care and respect for the uniqueness of all children and families. We operate from the perspective that, ultimately, parents know their children best and that our role is to inform, guide and support. We do not insist. We appreciate that parents come to us with different values and beliefs. We know that parenting is hard work!

Celebrating 40 years of family! AFABC supports the adoption community at all ages and stages through education, counselling, family events, and advocacy. AFABC provides province-wide support to those thinking about adoption, deciding to adopt, and those who already have an adopted child in their family.
