Description

IER (Inland Empire Racewalkers) was established in 1985, meeting at Fairmont Park, off of Market St. and the 60 Frwy, in Riverside. We are a 501c(3) non-profit organization. We meet every Saturday morning, unless there is a club race somwhere, in the parking lot near the tennis courts and National Guard Armory. We encourage everyone, young and old, to come join us if you wish to just meander through the park with someone, take a brisk walk, a power-walk or do some serious racewalking. Afterwards, we go to breakfast at Riviera Restaurant near Rubidoux and Mission and enjoy a great breakfast and even better fellowship. We have groups that start at 7am for the longer distances and 7:30 am for shorter distances. During the summer both of those times start 30 minutes earlier. However, we ask that all members are back at the parking lot by 9:10am so we can ensure that everyone is accounted for, before we go to breakfast. Our members range from the teens to 90+ year olds and every range of ability. We are a very social group, with many club functions and get-togethers. We have our racewalking experts, Dave Snyder and Susan Harris, both US Track and Field racewalking instructors, judges and officials that are available to help you learn or improve your racewalking form. Some of our members have even competed in the Olympics. Our club hosts the annual Mayfest Racewalking event, an Olympic qualifying event, although it is open to all racewalkers.
