Between 2008 and 2010, Innovative Residential became a pioneer in private sector affordable housing initiatives in Saskatoon with the completion of Camponi Place. Innovative Residential worked in close partnership with the City of Saskatoon during all phases of the Camponi Place housing project. For this project, Innovative Residential moved 78 housing units from one neighbourhood to another several miles away. Each home was then renovated and made available to households with modest incomes. To make sure that these homes were attainable to low and moderate income couples and families, Innovative Residential invented the Mortgage Flexibility Support Program alongside the City of Saskatoon. The Mortgage Flexibility Support Program is offered with the support and participation of all three levels of government and is the first of its kind in Canada. In 2010, Innovative Residential began a second major housing development – Hartford Greens. For this project, Innovative Residential developed a custom-engineered townhouse design and built the houses using a modular construction process. Together, the design and modular construction ensure that the homes are built to an extremely high quality. Our new modular townhouse developments are completely indistinguishable from traditional residential construction products and the overall quality of the homes exceeds that of most “stick-built” units. Hartford Greens has been received very positively by the community and represents a significant improvement upon traditional townhouse developments.
