Welcome to our Facebook page! We update this space daily with new articles from our experts and info on upcoming events. Connect with us on Twitter: @theIRD. Since 1981, the IRD has been a voice for transparency, for renewal, and for Christian orthodoxy. In the words of theologian and IRD board member Thomas Oden, we “are not presuming to create new doctrine but hold firmly to apostolic teaching in ways especially pertinent to current circumstances. The theology is orthodox, reliable, stable, beautiful, familiar, and glorious. By it the church has been blessed by God for two thousand years.” We understand how truth slipped from the hands of the leadership of the Protestant mainline and how the same thing can happen in the evangelical world. Finally, we believe that religious freedom—the liberty of people to practice and share their faith as their consciences dictate—is the most basic human freedom. Consequently, our Religious Liberties program regularly reports on the persecution of religious minorities, which in many countries are Christians.
