This page is run by volunteers for Islamic Relief in the North East working to support the fund-raising efforts of the charity. The intention is to develop the page over time in order to keep everyone up to date with things going on in the North East region of the UK. For people wanting to volunteer: The kinds of things you could be asked to get involved in are: * Representing Islamic Relief (becoming the public face of our organisation in your community - an "Amannah") * Supporting events for fundraising or raising awareness (dinners, talks, meetings, appeals etc.); * Distribution of leaflets and publicity (poster campaigns in the local community, leafleting); * School assemblies (turning up at a school and talking to youngsters for 10 minutes about the poor and the needy); * Masjid Appeals (making a short appeal at Juma for Emergency Appeals/ Disaster Response - or during Ramadan) * Bucket Shaking (Shaking Buckets); * Special projects (for those with particular talents - writing articles, graphic design, food stalls, web site development, managing a FaceBook group, event photgraphy etc); * Your own events (become more active in the community and organise your own events that we can support); * Contributing with your own ideas (by Allah, we always need the opinions and ideas of our volunteers!); * Personal development, learning new skills and gaining more knowledge (through the new Volunteer Development Programme - something we just set up and are developing further Insha Allah). I encourage all brothers and sisters to make the intention and sign up with us. Surely Allah swt will accept your efforts to save humanity for His sake.
