Description

We have just completed our most successful year in Jackson County CASA history -- expanding capacity to serve 1,000 children in 2013. More than 320 volunteers advocated for these children with extraordinary results: o 73 children were adopted by new, permanent families. o 128 children were safely reunified with their biological parents. o The remaining 710 children received the time and attention of CASA volunteers, who advocated for the best possible placements while we work to find safe, permanent homes for them. While they remain under Court jurisdiction, our CASA volunteers made sure these children received the medical, therapeutic, and educational services they desperately need. Despite these efforts, hundreds of children remain on a waiting list for our services. Right now there are more than 2,400 children under Court jurisdiction in Jackson County due to abuse and neglect, and 600-800 new cases are referred to the Court every year. Our goal for 2014 is to fund the staff and systems to expand our capacity to serve more than 1,050 of these children.
