James Lick Middle School is nestled in the heart of Noe Valley, a beautiful neighborhood in San Francisco. We are a mid-sized school, serving over 600 students and families. One of our biggest assets is our diverse student population, including about 65% Latino, 15% African-American, and 12% White. Over the past five years, we have made great gains in terms of student achievement which include about a 130 point gain in state-wide test scores. We attribute these gains largely to the involvement of families and the highly collaborative work of a very dedicated staff.

Potential changes to your child’s schedule depending on their program~ *3 long-term English Language learner classrooms will be collapsed due to many students being reclassified. *We are thrilled to introduce a new elective/enrichment course, which will be Intro/beginning Spanish as a World Language course. This course will be available as part of our rotating elective wheel. Our first group will be selected based on a lottery system and interest. We are trying to serve all grade levels, but potentially may have to limit the class to 6th and 7th grade only.
The first phase of the construction move is currently underway. Teachers/classrooms in transition are as follows- Ms. Corda, Ms. Morrallos, Ms. Heidi, Mr. Alvarado/Mr.O, Mr. Carames, Ms. Dicharry, Mr. Longnecker, Ms. Keller and both the Main Office and the Counseling Offices. Last day of classes is Friday, December 19th and classes will resume on Monday, January 5th. We need 5 to 6 parent volunteers upon our return, to help guide and direct students to bungalows in the upper yard, and also help teachers with the transition into their new space.
