With over 17 years experience as a Master Stylist in some of New York City’s most respected salons, including Frederic Fekkai and Butterfly Studio (a Kerastase flagship salons), Janet St. Paul has a resume of amazingly impressive clients and achievements. Her down-to-earth personality and stylistic talents are combined to perfection to exceed every client’s dreams – you will know right away that she is the one to cut your hair! In search of a new quality of life, Janet was drawn to Austin and the people in this great town. She recently said goodbye to full-time life in NYC and selected to put down her roots here in Austin. “From a lifestyle perspective, Austin is the perfect city for me because the people are so nice. It has a fantastic urban feel, and offers the outdoor lifestyle that I crave,” says Janet. A native of New Orleans, Janet knew early on that being a stylist was her calling. She completed her training in Louisiana and jet-setted herself to NYC in 1993. Soon after arriving she began an apprenticeship at Frederic Fekkai under the watchful eye of both Mark Garrison (one of the stylists who opened the original New York Salon), and Frederic himself. Within two years, Janet had proven to be an astute student and was swiftly promoted to Stylist. Soon after she was promoted to Senior Stylist, an elite title at Frederic Fekkai that was mainly held by stylists imported from Paris. After eight and a half years, Janet left Fekkai to assume the role of Assistant Style Director with Butterfly Studio Salon. In this capacity, Janet helped set the creative direction of the salon while also designing and implementing one of the most rigorous staff education programs in the industry. Over the course of Janet’s extensive career, she has been successful enough to work in different areas of both the media and fashion industries. This included couture fashion events, print journalism, television, and film. To her credit, Janet has consistently contributed to the New York Fashion Week Couture shows with such designers as Ralph Lauren, Douglas Hannette, Reem Arca, Oscar de la Renta and Diane Von Furstenberg. Her work has been featured on the cover of In Style, Elegant Bride, Brides, Traditional Home, Mode, Town & Country’s annual Bride Issue, and W Magazine’s Top Rising Stars 2006 edition. Styling some of the most visible women in NY and Austin is part of Janet’s trademark. In fact, her work has regularly been seen on ABC Nightly News with Elizabeth Vargas, Good Morning America with Diane Sawyer, Martha Stewart on Martha Stewart Living and NBC Sports with Andrea Kramer and Galas in the Austin and Fort Worth area. The list doesn’t end there! Janet’s distinctive style has been seen on celebrities and leading executives like award winning actress, Vanessa Redgrave; supermodels, Angie Everhart and Stephanie Seymour; international philanthropist and socialite, Ann Bass; Lead Senior Counsel with Pfizer International, Amy Schulman; and Worldwide CEO of Waterford Wedgewood International, Moira Gavin. Janet isn’t one to rest and is driven to be on top of the latest trends. “Coming from New Orleans and having lived in NYC for 15 years, art and fashion play big roles in my work. Stylists with vision inspire me and I believe people like Orlando Pita (who has been responsible for styles on the runway with Versace, Gucci and Michael Kors) truly shape and drive the industry. When Janet isn’t helping clients look their best, you can find her exploring Austin or entertaining friends over a gourmet home-cooked meal while listening to a variety of jazz, hip hop/R&B and legendary rock n’ roll like Stevie Ray. In fact, if you need to schmooze Janet, she confesses savory food and dark chocolate are certain to weaken her will. Chefs in need of new styling should take note! When Janet day dreams of fantastic clients and fresh challenges she says her mind takes her to the idea of styling two very different clients -- Sandra Bullock and Donald Trump. However, it only takes one look in Janet’s eyes to know that her day-dreams have a way of quickly becoming realities.
