I would like to introduce myself as Jazmine Tufford-Singh, an art therapist (M.A.), and Canadian Certified Counsellor (C.C.C.) working in private practice.

Description

Art therapy, a branch of psychotherapy, is the process of personal expression through the explorative and creative use of art materials with the guidance of an art therapist. The exploration of visual language through paint, collage, clay, drawing, endless colours and textures, in combination with verbal communication and play, invites the opportunity for an individual to better communicate with others, and deepens the relationship one has with the self, through channeling one's needs, desires, anxieties, and fears. In art therapy, individuals explore a visual language to find personal meaning in the content of the art, or fulfill therapeutic goals through the process of art creation itself. Art therapy is a therapeutic intervention that can be provided for individuals of any age and experience. This includes individuals with physical or mental disabilities, individuals experiencing emotional, behavioural, medical and/or mental health challenges (i.e. depression, anxiety), attachment issues, experiences of trauma or abuse, as well as individuals who may be seeking new direction or personal growth. My passion in working as an art therapist is fostering an authentic connection with clients regardless of physical, verbal, or cognitive ability, by providing a supportive space within which individuals can explore, create, express, and experience personal empowerment. My primary expertise includes creating and facilitating programs with various modifications for children with autism and physical disabilities in both clinical and leisure settings. I have extensive experience working with individuals of all ages with special needs as well with children who have experienced various trauma. I am accepting referrals for clients for both individual and group art therapy in my private practice work. I also offer art therapy workshops for educators, social workers, and other mental health professionals who have an interest in art therapy, and how their clients or staff would benefit from this service.
