Jazzland has a compelling story to tell and would like the opportunity to share with you. Why? Its nearly four years now and Jazzland, Jacksonville’s only live jazz club has made history by being up and running! That’s a first. Other local attempts at establishing jazz clubs have failed with the clubs folding after an average time of operation at four months. So what’s Jazzland’s secret? I'd like to share it. Jazzland has the support of an intergenerational crowd. Every weekend! They are not at Jazzland for the food because we are not a restaurant.. There are no waiters going back and forth, breaking the concentration and obstructing the view. Musicians are not confined to a corner and compelled to play below a certain decibel level. They are onstage enjoying the full appreciation and complete attention of the patrons; they perform with complete creative freedom. Decibels, notwithstanding! Patrons eagerly support Jazzland and show their respect for the improvisational art and long suffering discipline shared by the musicians we present specifically and by jazz musicians collectively. The Patrons are there for jazz! They listen and tenaciously meld into the performances then thank us from the bottom of their hearts for making the sacrifice. Every weekend!
