Description

For more than 40 years, JDRF has been a leader in the search for an end to type 1 diabetes, through both research funding and advocacy. During that time, we have always talked about a cure as a singular destination: a return to normal physiology. But today, we realize that a cure is not just a destination but also a journey along a path. We recognize that a part of our mission must be to keep those living with type 1 today alive and healthy until we arrive at the end of that path. Who are we? JDRF is at the centre of the global T1D community, leading the effort to coordinate and galvanize key constituents—families, businesses, government, researchers, and other organizations—in the quest to cure T1D. We assume a leader’s responsibilities, and always seek to act like a leader; reflecting qualities of courage, intelligence, fairmindedness, and transformative vision. What are we doing? Cure, Treat, and Prevent. We never lose sight of our ultimate goal—to remove T1D from our lives forever. Every day, we are making advances toward the cure. Along the path to a cure, we are inspired by the many delivered achievements— creating better treatments that will transform how people live with T1D, and breakthroughs that will reduce the risk of developing T1D. Why do we do what we do? The courage and perseverance of those facing the everyday challenges of T1D is an inspiration to us. In turn, we seek to inspire them...to give them hope, belief, and support through life-changing treatments and significant breakthroughs that get us closer to a cure. JDRF's mission is to discover, develop and deliver advances that cure, better treat, and prevent type 1 diabetes (T1D).
