ADIs Wanted! Joel’s Driving School is looking for ADIs to help cope with the pupil demand I’ve established. I would like to speak to any ADI who is interested, and who fits in with my accessible and friendly company ethos; but I am mostly looking for ADIs who are currently running an expensive franchise with a national school, because that’s where I came from and I know that you can easily increase your earning potential. I had an AA Driving School franchise for 4 years, and whilst it was a great introduction to the industry, I only stayed as long as I did because it was the easy option. It certainly wasn’t for the money I earned. I barely made ends meet, despite loving my job and working long hours, 6 days a week. This was because, on average, I was giving The AA £1,000 of my profit every month. It took me a while to make the change, because the prospect of setting up a new business on my own, especially in such a tough economic climate, was a daunting prospect; but eventually enough was enough, so I set up on my own in 2012. It was hard to begin with, and I made some rookie mistakes, but in the end my love for my job, and my excellent pass rates, allowed me to build up a highly profitable business. My profits increased by £9,000 by year 2, with minimal advertising, and Joel’s Driving School’s reputation is now cemented in Bristol. So why join Joel’s Driving School? Joel’s Driving School Instructor Package £200/month • A supply of pupils Bottom line, if you’re not teaching, you’re not earning. Joel’s Driving School has a widespread reputation in Bristol, and I have no shortage of pupil enquiries. • No risk, no contract You won’t be signing your life away with contracts. If at any point you decide to leave for any reason, you can. I just ask for a minimum of 3 months to begin with, then the decision is yours from then on. • Help with the transition from a national driving school franchise, to running your own business your own way I know how daunting it was to leave the security of the big national driving school package, but working for yourself is the only way to make a decent living wage in this industry. They don’t deserve £1,000+ of your profit. • Record keeping and Self-Assessment Tax The Inland Revenue (HMRC) did a random inspection of Joel’s Driving School in 2013, and I was informed I had the best records of any driving instructor the inspector had ever seen. You have to get your records on point, and your self-assessment completed correctly, otherwise you risk huge penalties. Just because we’re not earning 6 figures, doesn’t mean driving instructors don’t get investigated! It’s not easy, so my experience is invaluable. I will also supply my own custom software for recording your finances, which have been approved by the HMRC for clarity and ease of use. • Stationery Starter Pack Does an expensive franchise offer you a ring-binder folder packed full of diary pads, mock test sheets, driver records, pupil progress booklets, online account forms, and business cards? Probably, and so do I! • Preferable rates for getting a car from Citroen or Renault Whether you want to buy, or do a contract hire (the latter would be my recommendation), my contacts at City Motors will give Joel’s Driving School instructors great rates. I would request you have either a red or white car to match the company branding. • A roof box with the logo and ‘L’ plate • Good rates at my sign writers for the logo to be applied to your car My logo is big and bold, which generates a considerable amount of business. Magnetic logos are an option if you’d prefer not to have the vinyls. • Help with planning routes across the entire city I know the best places to go for all levels of lessons throughout the city. I know it can be awkward if you’re not sure of the best place to go for a pupil’s first lesson, or for parking etc, so I can share my knowledge with you. • Personal assistance with ongoing teaching methods I’m here for help or advice you might need on day-to-day driving instruction issues. • Driving instructor insurance advice Getting the best price can be awkward… I can help!
