Just a reminder about the Wednesday morning run I lead from Cockermouth sports centre. Meet in reception for 6.30 am depart, all abilities welcome, 45 minutes, various paced groups, it's totally FREE and nice to run in a group at that time of day!
For all those who expressed an interest in trying some mountain fuel nutrition system I have some sachets. Let me know if your interested in buying some. I have morning fuel, xtreme energy fuel, recovery fuel and night fuel. £1.75 per sachet. First come first served!
Seem to be getting a flood of 'frozen shoulders' at the moment. Common theme is a tight supraspinatus locking the shoulder joint. Trigger point release very effective and self-treatment can be taught.
First Breakfast run this morning in typical Cumbrian weather, rain & wind at 6.30 a.m, think they call it character building! Still it shows how much more motivational it is in a group, would have been so easy to roll over and hide under the duvet this morning. Well done to the four who braved it, 45 minutes and over 4 miles covered, and then some for the speedier ones, great effort. Let's hope for some better weather and build the group up!
Lords Seat fell race tomorrow evening at 7pm. This is a great race, a good mix of trail and fell. Only 5 miles and not a massive amount of climbing, good for anyone contemplating their first fell race. I'll be there if my legs have recovered from tonight's track session!
About time I got this page 'live' again! I am starting up a new social running group on Wednesday 6th May. This is for you early birds as we will depart the leisure centre at 6.30am! This is absolutely FREE!!!! and open to all abilities. If your interested drop me a line or just turn up.
Delayed by a week but last night saw a return to fell racing. Latrigg looks so innocent but it is a brutal up and downer. I'm going back to look for my lungs when I get a minute! Quads are screaming today I was about 2 minutes down on my previous pb...but I had a great evening. Looking forward to getting fell fit again. Anyone wanting to join me drop me a line.
Great start to Monday morning and the week. Spinning x 45 minutes with lots of Fred whitton inspired climbing, followed by 45 mins of strength and conditioning. 1000 calories burned! Well done to all my class members.
So as I am starting my last day in my thirties I have got to thinking about what it will mean to turn 40. Well, despite having my own health and injury problems over the last few months I know I am still fitter now than I was at 20. So that's it, the theme...be fitter at 40 than 20! I am hoping to do a fell race on my 40th birthday, it will be tough, I will be much slower than I'd like to be, it will hurt...but hey I wouldn't have even contemplated 20 years ago!
Well that's work wrapped up for 2013. All that remains is to wish all my clients and friends a happy Christmas. Have a great time, and whilst it's good to have some time out, don't let it all slide too much. A few brisk walks or the odd Tabata session should keep some of those mince pies off the waistline!
Workout of the day (WOD): Try this for a metabolism boosting guaranteed fat burner! Squat jumps Press ups Squat thrusts Burpees Do each exercise for 20 seconds with 10 seconds rest in between. With no rest Repeat the set. Have one minute rest do it all again as above. 8 minutes of exercise...job done.
Teaching Back to back classes this morning. Spinning followed by weights session. Another spinning class this evening...#getinshapeforxmas at Cockermouth Leisure Centre

Cross country went well, not quite were I would have been a year ago but not far off. Just shows that being injured doesn't mean losing fitness. Through cross training and being active you can maintain a good level of base fitness.
