John Marshall Junior-Senior High School opened its doors at 64th and Fiebrantz in September 1961. It quickly became the largest public school in Wisconsin – a distinction it held for many years. At one point, Marshall's population neared 4,000 students, and individual graduating classes regularly numbered between 500 and 1,000. The establishment of Samuel Morse • John Marshall School for the Gifted and Talented (grades 6-12) in 2010 marked a welcome new chapter in the building’s historic role as a launch point for outstanding citizens of the world.
