In 1995, Ron Johnson and Martha Peddrick agreed that too many North Carolina firms were attempting to be all things to all clients, with some large firms often neglecting smaller clients in favor of larger accounts. They believed that a smaller firm whose lawyers had the experience and expertise to concentrate in the often overlooked areas of estate planning, estate and trust administration, business law, and tax law would be a viable enterprise. This idea came to pass with the formation of a new law firm on July 1, 1995, dedicating its practice to superior standards of client service, professionalism, and expertise within a narrow spectrum of practice areas -- a type of firm unique in the Greensboro area. While serving the Triad area for almost 20 years, the collective experience of its four lawyers spans nearly a century, bringing to the Triad some impressive credentials. For example, founders Ron Johnson and Martha Peddrick were certified by the North Carolina State Bar Board of Legal Specialization as Board Certified Specialists in Estate Planning and Probate Law, in 1987 and 1991 respectively. Davis McDonald has extensive corporate and business law experience with one of the Triad’s largest law firms. Justin R. Ervin, III was welcomed to the firm in 2011 practicing estate administration, estate planning, and tax planning; Justin is licensed to practice law in both North Carolina and Florida and holds an LL.M. in Taxation. Our firm's philosophy is simple. We will put our collective experience to work, as required, on simple, straightforward estate planning situations as well as on sophisticated wealth transfer strategies for clients with large, complex estates. Additionally, we maintain a significant probate and estate administration practice, handling estates of all sizes and complexities.
