Dr. Joseph Banis is an accomplished surgeon with more than 20 years of experience. He is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. He was an early pioneer in the use of microsurgery, routinely addressing the most challenging cases in reconstruction. His methods became standards of practice in the field. He brings his clinical precision, extensive knowledge of anatomy and sophisticated techniques to the practice of cosmetic surgery, producing results that are finer, safer, more reliable and predictable. A native of California, Dr. Banis received his B.S. from Loyola University of Los Angeles and his M.D. from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. His post-graduate training included a full General Surgery residency at the University of Hawaii, and Plastic Surgery residency at the internationally renowned and highly competitive Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine. In addition, Dr. Banis completed a Reconstructive Microsurgery Fellowship at the University of Louisville as well as Hand Surgery Fellowship at Eastern Virginia School of Medicine and the UL School of Medicine. Dr. Banis is instructing the plastic surgeons of tomorrow! He served 14 years on the full time faculty at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He now volunteers his skills teaching and mentoring plastic surgery residents and students, as well as keeping his private practice patients very happy!
