Founded in 2011, the Kansas City Banked Beauties became the ONLY banked track roller derby league in Kansas City and the newest league of its kind. KCBB set out to bring the first ever Kitten Traxx banked roller derby track to Kansas City and offers women opportunities for leadership, sportsmanship and friendship among its members as they pursue a shared passion for roller sports. While roller derby in Kansas City has been present for several years in the form of flat track derby, KCBB has brought a new dynamic to the sport with the resurrection of the banked track. In 2011, KCBB purchased the 13th set of track plans from Kitten Traxx. Though it was the 13th set of plans purchased in the United States, our determination to bring something special to our city made it the 12th fully constructed track in the United States - The Lucky 13. Banked track roller derby offers a different dynamic for fans. The slanted track creates higher speeds and the hits to match for the ultimate experience in roller derby. Not only do our skaters come from all age groups and backgrounds, but so do our fans. Our fans aren't just the sports fanatics; they consist of men and women, children and adults, and teens and seniors from almost any walk of life. Our vision is to become a roller derby league that is credible and respected not only in Kansas City, but also nationwide and even abroad. We aspire to inspire women of all ages and sizes to build self-confidence, independence, pride and camaraderie in athletics. We seek to appeal to women who have not found a sport that meets their needs or appeals to their strengths and to women who think they are beyond the age to belong in this sport. As we accomplish these goals year after year, we will make history in the world of women’s sports.
