Every year The KCBPS will honor blues musical greats from years gone by. Some of these legendary performers are under-represented or almost forgotten. In 2011, In Memory of those honored or recognized Annetta “Cotton Candy Washington”, Master Lee (Leon “Mr. Blues” Estelle), and Robert “Bob” Nicholas Schnebelen. In addition to honoring them for their contributions and achievements in the blues community in Kansas City, a headstone was placed on “Cotton Candy’s” grave site.
