Heal Your Body with Bowen Therapy and Occupational Therapy Soft Tissue Treatment. The Bowen Technique is a gentle non-invasive but powerful therapeutic treatment that is suitable for all ages from babies and young children through to adults and the elderly and frail. The therapy can assist with the relief and healing of musculoskeletal injuries such as neck pain and restriction, headaches, back pain and sciatica, shoulder pain including frozen shoulder, hip restrictions and knee pain, foot and ankle problems and hand and arm problems including repetitive strain injuries. It is also useful in the treatment of respiratory problems such as asthma, sinusitis and allergies, digestive disorders such as bowel and stomach problems, and other body imbalance problems such as chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia. The treatment sessions are up to an hour in duration and involve the therapist administering a series of small rolling moves over particular muscles, tendons, joints and nerve pathways. The treatment addresses the musculoskeletal framework as well as fascia, nerves and internal organs. Each treatment is specifically designed to suit the individual person following assessment of their needs. The effectiveness of the therapy is based on the body’s ability to heal itself after being provided with subtle moves that send messages deep into the body allowing it to achieve a balanced and relaxed state of well-being which in turn initiates self-healing. Therapy does not interfere with any medication regimes. Liaison with other treating allied health professionals and doctors can be arranged to ensure that clients are provided with the optimum opportunity for regaining mobility and health. Kathryn Purse is an experienced occupational therapist and bowen therapist. She initially studied at the University of Queensland gaining a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy and has since undertaken post graduate studies in Ergonomics at the University of Queensland and Soft Tissue Injury Management through James Cook University. Her Bowen Therapy training has been undertaken through The Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia and Border College of Natural Therapies. Kathryn provides a professional therapeutic service with a commitment to client comfort and safety.
