Linwood AYS overall: The AYS program at Linwood is a program for supplementing the weekly Sabbath sermon in helping people get fed spiritually for the immediate (the upcoming week) as well as the long term (preparing the soul for salvation upon the second coming of God). Linwood AYS 2016: Mortal Kombat: Prepare for Battle! In this day and age, it is becoming very evident these are becoming the last days in the history of man. In looking over the last few decades, we have had unprecedented events happen such as: • Terrorism on the rise: - Planes crashing into the twin towers - Random shooting and multiple killings in Paris • Hate crimes: - Person attending a prayer meeting at a church and ends up shooting people in the church - Young person goes into movie theater and randomly shoots movie patrons These events are signs in the Bible that the last days are approaching us. In these last days the Bible speaks that there will be a great and fearsome event is coming; one great last battle: Armageddon!! This will be a battle unlike any other battle. It will be a battle not only about death, but also about life. It is a battle for our souls. As with any war, you must prepare for battle. The Bible in Ephesians 6 tells us how to prepare for this final, great battle: with the full armour of GOD: Helmet of Salvation: Saved by the grace of God - protects your mind, and helps you to remember what Jesus did on the Cross for our sins Testimony and testimony-based programs focused on the saving grace of God and understanding it. Breastplate of Righteousness: Guided by the Spirit - protect your heart and remind you that Jesus is always with you Learning how to find and listen to the Spirit in decision and action Belt of Truth: Living the word of God - remember the truth, and to tell the truth Studying and learning the word of God to know the principles of God for the standards of truth today. Shield of Faith: Living and protection by faith - remember that Jesus is our Savior and He can protect you from all your enemies Developing the Skills and abilities to not only live but allow God to protect us by faith Sword of Spirit: Wielding/using the word of God - knowledge, and remind you to read the Bible Having sermonettes, vespers, and other programs specifically focused on speaking and teaching the Bible Feet of Peace: Spread the truth - always be ready to go share the good news about Jesus to anyone!
