General Info

We believe that art is for everyone, not just for those who can afford the price of a ticket; and that Shakespeare's works are a great learning lesson of the human condition. As the official state Shakespeare festival, Kentucky Shakespeare offers free performances in June through August in historic Old Louisville's Central Park. The C. Douglas Ramey Amphitheatre seats over 1,000 audience members and is completely wheelchair accessible. Central Park is located at the corner of 4th & Magnolia in Louisville, KY. Kentucky Shakespeare also has extensive education outreach programs, including summer camps for 4-18 year olds, professional development programs for teachers, and K-12 education outreach programs that have toured in all 120 counties in Kentucky as well as surrounding states. Since 1990, we have served over 1,000,000 students. Kentucky Shakespeare is the oldest free Shakespeare Festival in the United States.
