SAVING LIVES SINCE 1927 The Kitchener-Waterloo & North Waterloo Humane Society is one of the largest Humane Societies in Ontario serving one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas. Over 18,000 square feet of space allows us to care for 62 dogs, 165 cats and an assortment of birds, small mammals and reptiles. OUR VALUES To provide a safe haven for animals in need. To share our vision with the public concerning the humane treatment, care and protection of all animals. To ensure all animals within our care are treated with respect and compassion. To identify and serve community needs for animal companionship. Our KWHS Animal Welfare Centre has a HUGE assortment of cats and kittens just waiting to find forever homes. Our goal is to find the best possible home for each of our pets and in the interest of both pets and adopters, we reserve the right to select the most appropriate home. To ensure the best possible match, the KWHS asks that all members of the family be present for the adoption visit. Due to the large number of potential adopters that visit our shelter daily, we are not able to accept applications by phone, fax or email. Once an application has been approved through a one-on-one interview at our centre, pets can only be held to allow adopters to prepare their homes, purchase supplies etc. We ask anyone interested in adopting to book an appointment to meet with one of our adoption counselors. It is our goal to provide you with expert efficient service. Walk-ins are still welcome but please be aware that you may be have a 10-20 minute wait due to the large number of adoptions we complete each month. Appointments are strongly suggested. Please call 519-745-5615 Ext 226 or email Christine.lishman@kwhumane.com to book your appointment today. Our adoptable pets pages feature animals from KWHS and Stratford-Perth Humane Society. If you wish further information on SPHS pets, please contact them directly at 519-273-6600. We are the leader in animal welfare in our communities focusing on the responsible treatment of animals through education, care, advocacy, and compliance.
Take Bus Route 18 and get off at Maple and Guelph Street. It's about a 15 minute walk from there.
