Description
I was born in a Griot family from Brikama, in the Gambia, West Africa - The cradle of West African cultural tradition. I am a master kora player and bard of the griot tradition. All my life I have studied the griot heritage of West Africa - First with my own father, Jali Free Mbye. Now I have started a Kora School project in Brighton, where I have developed educational programmes suited for all ages and abilities. I currently teach kora in schools and in private as well as perform with my band, Koraking Mbye all over the UK and internationally. I offer educational programmes tailored to the exact needs of your school and students, utilising the knowledge and experience of a lifelong education with my father and other griots from the West African musical culture.
