Description

The 'Kristian Thomas Company' is the brainchild of Urdang Academy Graduate, Professional Performer & Ex-Amateur Dramatics Actor, Kristian Cunningham and aims to give opportunity to create, to learn & to perform. At 'KTCo', we strive to produce flawless, faultless and an exceptional level of musical theatre and performance, allowing our audiences to be blown away with the high calibre of actors within our company. We aim to provide the brightest talent from across the Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire areas with a chance to perform at the highest professional level possible amongst the 'amateur' world. Our creative team is made up of the best professionals and talents around, thus giving our 'KTCo' members the best and highest standard of learning possible. We believe in opportunity for the gifted performers within our company to have a chance to delve deeper, to push and create their abilities further and give them the challenge of performing to a semi professional level. 'KTCo' was born from crazy ideas that Kristian constantly threw around at best friend and director, Alysha Gomes and it wasn't long before she brushed up these crazy ideas into a clearer vision of something very possible for Kristian to achieve. This was where the creative team begun.. Kristian and Tom Bond first worked on a production together, Footloose, while studying for their a-levels at Bilborough College. After going to study at their respective professional establishments, four years later, Kristian had no question but to work with Tom again and this time with their professional training and skills behind them. The final puzzle piece came from long term best friend and practically a little sister to Kristian, Sophie Lowe. Having basically been performing shows in their bedroom, to duets in competitions, to going on to pursue training and conquering the wide world, Sophie and Kristian have stayed in contact and worked with each other creatively wherever possible. The groundwork for the 'Kristian Thomas Company' was built and they were ready to create magic. A Note From Kristian Cunningham: 'Setting up this company has been everything I wished for and more. I could not have asked for a better creative team and also a better company of phenomenal talent. My idea for KTC came from a period of time within my professional career where I was creatively stuck and frustrated. My industry is full of rejection and judgement and there are a lot of people fighting for one thing with simply not enough to go round. I have been fortunate to have achieved four professional jobs in just my first year of graduating but even for my friends and some of the most incredible performers I have ever witnessed some people remain unemployed for a long time. My industry requires a lot of patience and there is always a reason for what's not right and I wanted to create a company that proves anything is right because we are all individual and have something to offer as performers. My company and creatives all come from very different backgrounds be that professional amateur, acting, singing or dancing; their talents are all very different. What makes my 'KTC' simply electric is the eclectic mix of performers coming together in one space and all being put where they work best to create a unit of fierce art and work. I have a lot of thanks and praise to give to three incredibly talented and committed individuals who make up my creative team. They have put up with a lot and been my eyes, ears, feet, nose, spine and anything else possible they can take on. Their work, without a doubt, has allowed me to create something extra special, more than planned and above and beyond my dreams. I really couldn't have done it without you and I have an instant connection with all of them, they all connect into my vision and the way I work so naturally. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you to Alysha, Tom & Sophie. The amateur dramatics world gives a lot to people, especially the youth, it enlightens people to a world where they can do what they've always dreamed and also awakens a lot of talent within them. Even within my group of actors, I have pushed every single one in theirareas of weakness because we can always constantly be learning as performers. This is definitely my way of giving back to what my teachers, directors and creatives have given me. Although the idea of working professionally and to a high level and under a lot of pressure would seem terrifying to some, my company would all vow that actually, as a collective we had the most incredible time creating our debut show that launched the company - 'Our House'. I am so proud of what we have achieved and I cannot thank enough all those people who have helped make this dream a reality. I shall stop typing before this gets emotional, any more cliche and generally cheesy.'
