We provide outstanding learning experiences in Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences for medical students, residents, interns and fellows.
We pride ourselves in providing unrivaled patient care in a variety of community settings, including private urban and rural hospitals, community mental health centers, and hospital and medical school based outpatient clinics. Wichita is a regional health care center that draws patients living throughout Kansas and northern Oklahoma. This broad catchment area provides a rich diversity of patients and clinical conditions that further the educational experiences of our trainees. The didactic sessions are led by a combination of full time and volunteer faculty. Combinations of psychiatry residents, psychology interns, and psychology fellows attend these interdisciplinary seminars which provide an added dimension to the learning environment. Department faculty have active research programs in a variety of areas, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, and child clinical trials, and various aspects of clinical neuropsychology and child psychology. Residents, interns, and fellows have multiple opportunities to become involved in research and to author publications.
We rank No. 6 in the nation for producing primary care physicians. A healthy Kansas starts here.
