A huge thank you to our staff members who supervised our students at Hanase and Guangzhou. Those extra hours of stress (and a lack of sleep) have helped our students to become more resilient, courageous and independent. Their dedication to quality whole child education is highly appreciated!

The best gift you can give to students is NOT your knowledge. Knowledge is immediately available. The best gift you can give is an explanation of how to ask questions in order to discern what knowledge is needed and how to evaluate the credibility of that information. The best gift you can give is an explanation of how to wield, use, and apply that knowledge for their personal betterment or the betterment of others. The best gift you can give is the ability to create new things and share them, to communicate clearly and kindly with all whose paths you cross, and to embrace failure with interest and humility. The best gift you can give your students is to be a learner. Mindy Keller-Kyriakides

We are finalising some touches on a new Student Council. The Student Council will be launched after the Autumn Break. This Student Council is the product of an idea started by Joshua (G7) during his PYP Exhibition last year. The framework for the council was created by former students, Olivia & Nils. Details of the framework will be shared with the community in due time. We are excited about providing opportunities for student voice in the school. Election season is soon upon us!

Craig Dwyer will be leading a workshop next Thursday (2:00pm to 2:45pm) for parents of Grade 1-6 students. The topic of the workshop will be all about Guided Reading and how we teach literacy at KIS. We will be doing a fishbowl, which means we will go into a classroom and observe it happening. We will meet on the second floor at 2:00pm, where we will have a short discussion before going to watch the class in action. We are very excited to start this new initiative, and if demand is there, we would like to do one a month.
