Restorative Practices LCCJP has been providing court diversion services for 17 years in Lanark County and the Town of Smiths Falls. Our office is located in Perth, ON. LCCJP receives referrals pre-charge from the police services and post-charge from the Crown Attorney. We have 40 trained volunteers who conduct a community justice forum process for youth and adults. Our recidivism rate is less than 5% compared to the recidivism rate for similar cases through the criminal system of about 30%. Thanks to some generous grant funding, we are launching our school initiative in 2016. The goal of the program is to send trained volunteers into each school and youth centre throughout Lanark County and the Town of Smiths Falls on a regular basis and to work with school administrators, teachers, youth, parents and youth workers to promote the use of restorative approaches. We can provide mentoring to those who are already using a restorative approach and introduce the restorative concept to those who are not already involved. The deliverable expected by our funders is that we will reach or have an impact on all 13,120 youth in our service area over the next 3 years – a lofty target!

As a result of its efforts during the 1997-1998 , 1999-2000 and 2000-2001, the Civitan Club of Perth was recognized by Civitan International as the most outstanding Civitan club throughout the world. This prestigious honour has never before been awarded to a club in Canadian District East and only once in Canadian District West. We are always looking for new members. We have members from Perth, Smiths Falls, Lanark, Brockville and a few other areas.
