Our new favorite customer of the week is "Jimmy". That's what it says on the man's card, his name in quotes. "Jimmy" is anti-computer. Relentlessly analog. He gets us. He believes in looking you straight in the eye. He is classic old school Vegas. He knew exactly what he wanted when he walked in, told us tales, and left happy. I could hang out with "Jimmy" all day. Be a little "Jimmy", today and every day.
The club has lost a true friend, Sandra Equality Eddy. Although we didn't know Sandy well, she graced us with her presence several times. Only weeks ago she was rocking out to her tunes while on our orange couch - all so that her granddaughter could follow one of her passions in learning photography. We will make sure that continues. Sandy seemed like one of those people that was going to live forever. Our hearts are with her, her friends, and family.
Folks, a reminder that on First Friday we close a little earlier than usual. Why? Because we were there until 9pm last night for Preview Thursday. We get sleepy. Get your shopping done early too there as there are street closures for Pride Day parade along with the usual FF traffic issues.
For our friends old and new attending Photoshop World this week, September 3-5. We are offering 5% off all regular merchandise in the store until September 5th. Just bring your ID. We are at Art Square in downtown. Check out our page for times and directions. #PSW14
In addition to shaking up hours a bit, we are working on some extra awesome double super secret sauce. Stay tuned.
Folks. We are going to do a change-up on our opening hours for the Fall. As of now we will be not be open on Sundays for the foreseeable future. In time that day will become used for workshops and classes.
Labor Day Weekend Hours: We will be closed this Sunday, August 31st with the store reopening on Wednesday, September 3rd.
Just a quick advanced notice that we will be closing early next Friday, August 1st, at 5pm. Thanks all!
Magentatype from Impossible. Yes, we do carry it and can sell it to you. $21.50 per pack. Quantities are limited.
Shout out to Mackenzie, our newest new customer!
Marco and Keith. They are the best. They love LVCC as much as anyone we've met.
Our next semi-random open lab day will be on February 22nd. This is an unstructured day in which you can ask to learn about various manipulation techniques, etc. Actually pretty much anything you want to talk about. The hours are 11 until 4, or until the thirst for learning stops. You can hang out all day (unless the place is packed) or drop in for an hour. $10 plus any materials.
After a long drought, Fuji Instax Mini Twinpacks are back in stock. $18.50!!!
It has been a long winter in Las Vegas, all five days of it. And we are happy to announce that we have fresh film back in stock for Spectra, SX-70 and 600 models. Black and White and Color. Geoffrey is putting the touches on some specials we are running. We have some pretty cool harder-to-find models in stock such as the original white body SX-70, the Pronto! BC Rangefinder, and a Spectra AF. All tested and ready to go. Some of the prices are just going to be dumb. So come in and see. Also we have two Polaroid "Big Shot" cameras ready to go at the low price of $40, with new rollers installed instead of the standard issue "shredder" bars. And yes, we have film and Magicubes for those too.
Just about 100% of customers yesterday were in town from other countries. And we had a quiet, unassuming, guest visitor from Cirque who blew me away with her photos. I can't even describe how awesome they were. If we are lucky some day we will all get to see them on a wall somewhere.
Folks. We really appreciate people stepping up to support us. We've had a lot of help lately which has made all the difference in being able to stay. Not going to lie, December for the first two weeks was on course for a Hindenburg. In the last four days we were open before Christmas, it turned from potentially the worst month we'd ever had to the best. And from a lot of brand new faces too. We still have a long way to go. It would be nice to get paid or something crazy like that, a kid can dream. Sometimes things just take time. The word is getting out. Keep that up please. Thanks to you all.
Thanks to all who swung by Sunday for the rather impromptu open workshop day. The next one is going to be on Sunday January 25th. It's an 11 - 4 thing. Show up. Be awesome. Pay us $10 plus any materials as needed. You get a choice of 3 topics, and then the learning commences. You can always just come in and ask questions if you have them. Non-members get temporary orange couch privileges for the day.
Bryan is still down with the infinite flu. Sean will be stepping in to man the shop on Thursday, but only until 4:30. If you need to stock up, go see him before then. With any luck, Bryan will be back on Friday.
Due to this cold/flu hitting Bryan like a sack of potatoes, the shop will open at noon and probably close early. Sorry for the short notice, but the cold wasn't very considerate of our schedule this week.
Just had our youngest shooter come in. How old? Three! And his stuff is pretty damned good. His camera of choice? Lomo' Instant!
Fair warning fans of LVCC. Confirming the rumor swirl on Fuji Instax film. The wholesale prices for both Mini and Wide are now higher than our previous RETAIL price! Why is this happening? Apparently Fuji cannot keep up with demand. There is some supply out there online in limited numbers that is still cheap. But look at B&H for a glimpse of the future - the retail price of a Wide twinpack is at $31.
As of this Saturday, our new man Sean will be behind the counter! Sean is very knowledgable about things Pola, and he's been shooting that format longer than we have! Sean is taking over some hours as Bryan begins his wind-down at the shop. Will it be different without Bryan around? Sure. But with Sean and some other awesome members who are willing to step in, it might well be even better. Come in Saturday from 11 to 4 and say hello!
Want your pictures big? Do you like framing things differently? Into landscapes? We spent the week spiffing up some Spectra cameras that can do all of the above. The Spectra is the underdog format of Polaroid instant cameras, but it's actually really cool. Some of the cameras were cosmetically past their best days. But they have all been cleaned and test fired too. The prices range from $20 to $65 depending on the model type. Come on in and take one home!
The Next Generation 600 Color film is selling fast. We are down to the last 20 packs that are ever getting made. Stop on by to get yours before the getting is done gone!
Well kittycats, big news. We have the last of the 600 Color Gen 2 Pioneer that there is likely to be. At least 15 packs of 40 are spoken for already. Come get it, before it gets gone. And try a pack of the new Gen 2 B&W!
Gen 2 film is here! Gen 2 film is here!!
