The Launceston Basketball Assoication was created in November 2016 with the merger of the Launceston Junior Basketball League, Launceston Senior Basketball League, Northern (Tas) Baptist Basketball Assoication and the Northern Tasmanian Basketball Officials Association.
The assocation is the largest by member number in Tasmania and currently employs a full time General Manager, a part time Officials Manager and numerous volunteers to ensure the smooth operation of the association.
The representative teams of the LBA are the Launceston Lightning, the LBA also have storng ties to the Launceston SEABL Women's team - Launceston Tornadoes.
Our main competitions run from late February to August and in 2017 the LBA has 193 teams participating over 6 days per week from Under 10's right through to Senior Premier Leagues & Social based competitions.
Starting in 2017 the LBA will be running spring based competitions which will run from early September to mid December for our Juniors and early September until mid February for our Seniors with a break over the holiday period.
Junior competitions will include school based teams as well as development competitions for our younger age participants and will include an Under 8 or 9 age group.
Further information about spring based LBA competitions will be available later in 2017.
