Shout out to LC junior, Coleton Hast. Coleton won the state Shakespeare championship this weekend at Butler University and will be going to New York City in April for the national championship!
Congratulations to LC student and swimmer, Spencer Ball. Spencer was the Sectional Champ in the 500 free. His time of 4:45.34. was a New School Record! He will compete in the State Meet this Friday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Indianapolis in effect from February 20th, 7:00 PM EST through February 21, 7:00 PM EST. As a result, the LT Schools Showcase originally scheduled for tomorrow has been RESCHEDULED for Saturday, March 7. Same time and place.

The L.C. German team competed at the State German Congress at Ball State University on Feb. 14. Kara Hairston, Senior, won the Faschingsprinzessin award for being the Best Female Student at the competition. LC's team of 21 students came in 2nd overall, and 4 of of the Top 5 competitors were from LC. Ande Krafinski came in 3rd, Ben McArdle 4th, and Nick Aktinson 5th. In addition, the team of Kara Hairston, Ben McArdle, Ande Krafinski and Grace Bielefeld won first place in the advanced division of the Quiz Bowl, and the team of Anna Marcum, Ashlyn Marcum, Caleb Kidwell, and Oliver Harshman came in second in the 1st and 2nd year division. LC students won over 100 ribbons it total!

Eighth Grade Parent Information Night will be held on Thursday, February 12 at 7:00pm in the Auditorium. Counselors will be giving a brief presentation about opportunities available at LC, graduation requirements, diploma types, etc. Parents/students will then be able to attend multiple mini-sessions in which department chairs/teachers will be presenting information about class options for incoming freshmen. The IB Coordinator, the AVID Coordinator and a representative from the McKenzie Center for Innovation and Technology will also be available to answer questions. Parents of the class of 2019 – please join us!

On Friday night football will open the season at home against the Cathedral Irish. The theme for the game is “Beach Night”. There will be an LC Athletic Pep Club tailgate with food from Chile Verde and music located in the east parking lot from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Students can purchase pre-sale tickets for $6 during lunch on Thursday and Friday, and with the purchase of a ticket can enter to win several prizes that will be drawn for during the game on Friday night. Come out and enjoy the fun!
This Thursday night will be the Bears Athletic Club “Pack The House Night” for volleyball. The game is a “White Out” and all fans should come dressed in white to support the Bears! In addition, all Lawrence Central students who present their student ID at the gate will be admitted free and receive an ice cream sandwich in between games. Culvers will also be here and be providing prizes throughout the night. Come out to volleyball dressed in white and Pack The House on August 20! JV and Freshman start at 6 p.m., followed by varsity.
Auditions for the annual Rookie Show are the 18th and 19th in the studio theater. This is for any student at any grade level that has never been in a play or a musical at LC. No experience is necessary. Auditions will be from 4 until 6pm. There is one performance on September 9th at pm so it is a quick rehearsal process. There are three different one act plays directed by senior theatre students. There is nothing to prepare. Just show up.
The 2015 Bear’s Den yearbook is here! If you ordered a copy, you can pick it up during lunch or after school until 5 p.m. any day this week in room 143. To get your book, you must show your student ID. If you didn’t order a book but still want one, you’re in luck! There are about 30 extras, and they will be sold for $75/each. Bring cash or a check to room 143 to buy one of the few remaining copies.
The next PFO meeting will be August 28th at 1:00 p.m. The meeting is open to all parents who are interested in learning more about what the PFO is doing and things happening at LC. The meeting is held in the Principals Conference Room.
