LEAD offers a one day seminar to help applicants successfully complete a typical law enforcement hiring process.

Description

The first half of the seminarwill coverthe entire hiring process with emphasis on the Personal History Statement (PHS). Instructors will explain the importance of the PHS, and show attendees how to prepare for it. Having a clear understanding of this document, and the information it calls for, will help expedite the entire background investigation process. Instructors will include numerous tips, which most civilians never get, about every step of the process. The power point presentation and lecture are both extremely valuable and well worth the investment. The second half will cover the dreaded police oral interview. This is a police agency's first opportunity to hear from the candidate as to why he/she is best qualified for the position of police officer over hundreds of other applicants. With so much riding on the oral interview, we at LEAD feel it warrants the majority of the seminar's focus. In this segment, instructors will cover every portion of the interview. They will discuss dress, demeanor, attitude, eye contact and many other forms of nonverbal communication. LEAD Instructors know from experience that the candidates' ability to control their stress will often be the difference in passing or failing the interview. Instructors will demonstrate techniques to assist candidates relieve stress during the interview, with emphasis on building confidence. We will cover dozens of typically asked interview questions as well as numerous scenarios often used in oral interviews. LEAD instructors will work with attendees on their closing statement. They will demonstrate how to conclude the interview in a fashion that will summarize the candidates' strengthens or assist them in salvaging the interview by clearing up minor mistakes made prior to the closing. Instructors will run attendees through a mock oral interview and provide instant feedback with suggestions to make corrections. Upon completion of the seminar, attendees will receive a certificate which demonstrates to hiring agencies the candidates' commitment to being prepared for the process. Included in every seminar is a CD containing numerous PDF files that well help the applicants with the hiring process. The files include practice written tests with answer keys, dozens of oral interview questions/scenarios and practice PHS forms.
