We've lost another classmate. This is from Anna Wyatt. LEXINGTON: David E. Constance, age 60, of Lexington passed away Friday afternoon, March 7, 2014 in his home following a three year illness. He was born May 6, 1953 in Mansfield to Robert and Marjory (Homerick) Constance. Dave was a 1971 graduate of Lexington High School, having completed his horticulture studies at Pioneer Career Center. Dave worked 17 years at Dallas Design where he was a project engineer, having left the work force this past fall due to his illness. He also worked for Deca Manufacturing in Lexington and Voisard in Shiloh. On May 16, 1980 he married Janet E. Stolle with whom he celebrated nearly 34 years of marriage. Dave was a fan of NASCAR and enjoyed camping mostly at Mohican and Michigan. He also enjoyed skiing, was an avid mushroom hunter and was a skilled woodworker designing clocks, tables and furniture. Dave's passion was his flowers. For several years his family owned and operated the Bellville Greenhouse, because of Dave's interest in horticulture. He was a member of Kingwood Center, and the Ohio Daylily Society. At his home, he kept numerous flower beds complete with arbors and other features, as well as orchids and trees. He had a particular love for daylilies, creating hybridized plants by cross breeding. Dave was a very smart, self taught man, who could figure out just about any task. He will be remembered for his kindness and helpful ways. He is survived by his loving wife, Janet; mother-in-law, Doloris Stolle of Lexington; a sister-in-law, Lucille (Gil) Boebel of Mansfield; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved cats, Spot and The Bear. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Ian James Constance in 1998; and his father-in-law, Larry Stolle. Friends may call Monday, March 10, 2014 from 4-7 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where the funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 am. Celebrant Jerry Wilson will speak and burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery. Memorial contributions to Kingwood Center may be made at the funeral home.
