The more and more I work with kids and teens, the more I see they are so good at talking about what they are not good at, but it's a different story when I ask what they are good at. In life our bad bits and what we did wrong are always quickly pointed out. Top Tip: Ask your child what they did this week to feel proud of themselves, it takes a while to get them into the habit of recognising, but once they do, there is no stopping them! Whats the point? Kids lose confidence if all they feel is bad or not good enough, telling them what they are good at is good and getting them to believe in themselves is huge - do it by asking the question. Do it for yourself too!

LBD (Plymouth) are going from strength to strength. Coaching for children is growing so much that it looks like I'm going to be working Saturdays to cope with the demand - thats a good thing! I've had a lot of children through these doors recently (from 7 years up) and the changes have been amazing...Kids really are fantastic. So, for children with confidence, friendship, behavioural problems or just a bit of grumpiness...Coaching is proving itself in being able to make the changes children want. Bring on those Saturday mornings!! X

Hi! Recently I found there are 7 worst mistakes parents make when talking to kids. The first is nagging; We all do this, we all have somewhere to be, especially on school days, turns out, this is not really a great thing. Nagging can backfire on parents and compel their child to do the opposite it can also teach kids that reminders will always come so no need to track time themselves. I am afraid to say I am guilty of nagging and I find it very stressful, I am always ready with a nag of some description! This is how I changed my morning routine and now the house is calm; I sat with my 9 year old and we looked at everything that needed to be done before we could leave the house, she then made a rota with all of the tasks on and now I just trust. She is less stressed which means less time is used up on arguing, she feels trusted, independent and in control, meanwhile I have more time because I can leave her to it and sort myself out, no more turning up to work without make-up (well most of the time)! Try it, it works!
